February 3, 2010 Officersâ Meeting
February 8th, 201015 members attended: 12 officers/ deputies/ champions; 1 event steward; 2 member of the populace.
Carnival preparation has commenced. Items are being built. Donations of mask making materials are requested: felt and fabric scraps, feathers, etc. A tentative schedule of activities for the event has been made. A bid was presented for Valor XXXI. With the Kingdom schedule change there will be a second Queenâs Prize Tournament this year in November.
This Spring has several presentations planned. A proposal is being finalized for McConnell approval to have Vatavia be part of the annual Family Festival of Fun April 17th. Lady Yukiko is working on this. The Great Plains Renaissance Festival is April 24th-25th at Sedgwick County Park. HL Cai’s organizing the River Festival presentation May 9th. May 22nd- 23rd Vatavia has been invited to participate in Scottish Games at Sedgwick County Park.
The Chatelaineâs office is continuing organization of the basics for the Newcomersâ Guild. New promotional materials for the Barony are being developed for production to be available by the beginning of next month. Media relations material has been obtained from Kingdom. There was a brief discussion about establishing a Baronial Facebook/ Twitter site. It was noted that, like the Dragonfly-on-line, any such site would be unofficial.
Dance practices will be teaching Italian dances for the ball at the upcoming Carnival event. Specific classes for the mini-BUSH (Baronial University of Societal Humanities)sessions the fourth Wednesday of each month are scheduled for Spring and into Summer. Check the calendar, Baronial website and Arts and Sciences Ministerâs letter for these class subjects.
The Treasurer reported a current balance of $8,422.66. The Barony ended 2009 with an increase in funds of $1015.30. Crown Tournament made $72.37. Kingdom tithe and upcoming expenditures were discussed. A financial committee meeting is scheduled for February 8th.
Knight Marshal Uldin thanked his deputies- Lord Torin, Lord Thornbjorn and Lady Maren- for stepping in during his absence. Fighter practice has resumed at the indoor site at the Casado Campus Center at Friends University on Sundays from 111am to 2pm. Indoor practice will continue until outdoor practice resumes when weather permits.
